For 40 years, the Iranian regime brought nothing but oppression for the Iranian people, and terrorism and chaos for the Middle East. A quick glimpse at the long list of its crimes against humanity underlines the importance of supporting the great march of Iranian-Americans in Washington DC on June 21 in solidarity with the movement for a free Iran.

This rally is a call for regime change in Iran by the Iranian people and their organized resistance, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the Mujahedeen-Khalq (MEK or PMOI), as the only solution to counter the dictatorial and warmongering regime ruling Iran.

On Friday, 21 June, Iranian-American communities will hold a massive rally in support of the popular protests for regime change in Iran. The rally will be held in Washington DC a week after supporters of the main opposition group People’s Mojahedin (Mujahedin-e Khalq, MEK) held a “Free Iran” rally in Brussels and were supported by many European dignitaries.

In addition to supporting Iranian people’s desire for regime change, the rally will send a strong message to the international community to change their policy on the Iranian regime and support Iranian people’s wishes for a free Iran instead of appeasement.

On Monday, Business Insider reported upon Iran’s supposed plans to deploy warships to the Atlantic Ocean in an effort to counter American power following the arrival of a US aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf. Last month, the head of the Iran’s naval forces declared that Tehran would not tolerate the presence of such a vessel in international shipping lanes near Iran’s shores. But of course there is little that the Iranian military or the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps can do to repel the more sophisticated vessels of the US Navy.

In its entire 40 years, Iran’s regime had never hit such a low point; which is acknowledged by some of the officials themselves.

Just recently, President Hassan Rouhani stated that “it’s hard to say if we’re having it tougher today or back in war time; back then we at least didn’t have issues with banking, oil sales, and other imports or exports; back then our only struggle was on weapon limitations”.

Tehran Bazaar remained closed for a fourth continuous day as protestors maintained their positions on Wednesday, June 27th. All of Tehran’s major shopping districts, including the Grand Bazaar, the Goldsmith’s Bazaar, Mellat Avenue, Mowlavi, and the Aladdin Mall, among others, remained shuttered as stall owners and merchants refused to open their stores and begin trading.
